Treatment FAQ & Instructions

Pre & Post Treatment Instructions

Thank you for choosing HighBrow Designs for your permanent makeup experience. Please make sure you read the following instructions to ensure the best results for your procedure.

It is very important to refrain from all alcohol, aspirin, or aspirin products, such as blood thinners. Please refrain from Ibuprofen and Aleve for 24 hours prior to your appointment. The only product for aches and pain that will not make you bleed is Tylenol.

Also, refrain from Vitamin E and fish oil capsules for 7 days prior to your application. ALL of these make you bleed excessively. Excessive bleeding during the procedure will negatively affect the longevity of your semi-permanent makeup application. In some cases, the application will need to be prematurely stopped.

Discontinue use of any retinol or glycolic acid products a week before your procedure, these products stimulate cell turnover as well as sensitivity.

Avoid tanning or sun exposure leading up to your appointment.

Please avoid energy drinks & coffee for up to 24 hours before your appointment. Not having caffeine in your system will help you to relax much more easily, as well as help to relax the facial muscles in the areas we will be working on.

Please sign consents and review your after care instructions prior to your appointment date. Let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Post-Treatment Recommendation: Maximizing Your HighBrow Designs Results

Congratulations on your new permanent makeup from HighBrow Designs! We’re thrilled you chose us and are confident you’ll love your results. To ensure optimal healing and longevity, please adhere strictly to these post-treatment recommendations for the next several weeks.

Immediately Following Your Permanent Makeup Procedure:

Gentle Care is Key: The treated area will be sensitive. Avoid touching or rubbing it. If any lymph fluid appears, gently blot it with a clean, dry tissue. Do not wipe.

Avoid Water Contact: For the first 7-10 days, keep the treated area completely dry. This means no swimming, saunas, hot tubs, or excessive sweating. Even steam from a shower can affect the pigment. When showering, keep your face away from the water stream.

No Makeup or Skincare: Refrain from applying any makeup, lotions, creams, or cleansers on the treated area for at least 10 days, or until the scabbing process is complete. This includes products containing retinol, glycolic acid, or other exfoliating agents.

Avoid Picking or Scratching: As the area heals, you may experience some scabbing or flaking. It’s crucial to resist the urge to pick or scratch. This can lead to pigment loss, scarring, and infection. Allow the scabs to naturally fall off.
